My top 5 music videos

1) Sum 41 - in too Deep:

The music video of the song "in too deep" is one of my favorites due to how the video tells a story of such which relates in some ways to the lyrics of the song.
I think that some of the best music videos are ones which specifically relate to the message of the song and yet at the same time can entertain the viewer.
The meain reason however why i like this video is how it adds humour to the song making it more memorable.

2) Foo fighters - Learn to fly:

The music video for the foo fighters song "learn to fly" would be another one of my favorites.
Once again this is mainly for the way in how the video tells a story which makes watching it more enjoyable and entertianing, but also how the band is able to add in lots of humour in different ways, for example all of the passengers being played by members of the band or how the acctual band members are the only ones capable of flying the plane.
Another thing that mkaes the video enjoyable to watch is how it adds in celebritys to the vidego such as jack black being behind the entire problem of the plane.

3) My chemical romance - welcome to the balck parade:

I ejoy this music video for different reasons then the pervious two and this is because this video is not meant to tell a story or represent the lyrics of the song but the main reason behind the video is to represent the bands "image" so to speak and i like the video because in my opinion they have achieved this.
At the time of the song the band was trying to show there image off as being quite a dark and hardcore band and with the way how the video is also quite dark i think it works well with the objective. From the colours used in the video (being only black, white and the occasional red, which is used once again to represent there dark image) to the costumes and background of the video everything compliments the purpose to show that the band are dark, and it is for this reason that the video is sucessfull.

4) rise against - prayer of the refugee:

The reason i enjoy this music video is mainly because once again it tells a story but the main reason i enjoy it would be how works with the pace of the song and how when the songs pace increases so dose the music video. You can see this most clearly within the 1st 40 seconds of the song and how it starts off in a darkend room while the pace is fairly slow and then once the song speeds up all the lights turn on and the video itself seems to be moving faster.
Another reason why i like watching this video is because the first time i herd the song was on the radio and so i enjoyed it but i didnt understand the message behind it, however once watching the video the message becomes clear and i think thats what makes a good music video in how the message of the song needs to be clear for the audiance.

5) 30 seconds to mars - From yesterday:

The final place in my top 5 videos would have to go to 30 seconds to mars "from yesterday". I would like to add that this is the extended video version of the song which in my opinion makes it more worthwhile to watch due to how it goes more indepth to the story behind the song.
The main reason however why i enjoy the extended version would be how it dose not have the song playing the whole way through it but stops at intervalls.
I like the way this is done because it can be extreemly difficult to choose where to stop and start the song again but they do an excelent job of it. The reason it is enjoyable to not have the song being played the whole way through is because it then gives the viewer time to reflect on certian aspects of the video and think more in depth about it.
Another reason why i enjoy the video is due to how big budget the video is and you can tell this straight away due to the amunt of extras is included, the costumes and outfits used and how it seems they have just decided to say " money is no option, lets just make an amazing video". and thats what they seem to have done here.

I have enjoyed watching these videos as it has made me go back and acctually think about what it is that makes people enjoy music videos and i know this will be usefull for when it comes to making my own music video.

Britney spears remake

While working on the remake i was using one of the cameras to film the dance scene.
From working on the remake i have learnt some important points about filming music videos, with the most important being that you must get a good focus fo the main actors.
This in itself would make the video look more professional as if you have to background slightly out of focus then the actos more focued it makes the viewer concentrate more on the main actors.

With my group doing the 1st half of the film this required me to film the hallway dance scenes and so along with anid we were able to get two cameras and film two different shots of the same dance scene, this in itself taught me to be a well worth idea due to how when editing the scene together you can mix and match the clips around so that this way the viewer is not stuck with only one camera angle to focus on.

If i was able to re-do the filimg again then i would change one thing and that would be to have more time to film and get a more wider location, the reason for this being that it was quite difficult to film the scene due to the fact that there was other people walking around the school at the time causing us to keep stopping and restart filimg which caused a lot of hassle.

Favorite music video

One of my favorite music videos would be foo fighters video for "everlong".
The reason i enjoy this video so much is due to how it is one of my favorite songs and when you watch the video it seems to tell a story of sorts.
I feel this is better for music videos in comparison to videos where it just shows the singer as this way it catches the viewers attention and makes them more interested in it.
